English version

NOVA: Why do you choose to continue to live in Europe having the facility and possibility to live in the USA?

It is true that the approval and success I received in the USA justify your question. I have been living in New York for some time until I could consolidate a certain popularity after my first recordings in English and my various live performances, especially the three concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York. This moment of my artistic activity have come into my life after a long and hard road. I have never had any support from record companies and that makes a singer's career a painful one. The public never gets to know you. Every day you have to start all over again and that causes great fatigue.

If you don't have records, you're nobody because you'll never get any airplay. The companies are powerful and often decide your fate.

The USA have given me, besides a beautiful support full of euphoria, a contract with a new company that decided to invest in my style and found that I would become "a brand", something "special and identifiable".

Then I started recording incessantly trying to make up for lost time. A chance (the pandemic) caused me to continue my recordings in Europe.

Recording is much more important to me than performing live, because I'm tired of going from theatre to theatre and I don't need it.

Besides, living in New York is "running a thousand miles a second" and I'm not in the mood for such madness anymore. I may lose money, but I have what I need to live decently. I am known all over the planet thanks to the International Radios, the Distributors of my recordings and a little and "NOTHING BUT A LITTLE" to the social networks. So I choose Europe, Paris and Rome where I have my homes which are two hours away by plane. Why should things be complicated?

I like to be at home early at night, go for walks at weekends and dedicate myself to the beautiful work of looking for repertoire. I have to go to Germany often enough, because of the demands of my current repertoire. It includes some great orchestras.

What will happen with the concerts cancelled due to the pandemic in 2020 and which you were due to give in Madison Square Garden (USA), Istanbul and Ankara (Turkey) and Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russia)?

Everything changes. Life is constant movement. Now I am happy about the suspension. Thinking about those trips makes me want not to go back. After my last concert at Carnegie Hall (October 19, 2018) I sang in the South of France, in Italy, Greece and the Cayman Islands. It was a mammoth task. I don't want any more.

NOVA: What happened to the idea of singing at the Oscars?

It was rescheduled for 2023. Now I don't know. The show at the Oscars, is a secondary thing and now it is governed by very different models to the music that I represent.

I don't think it would add much to my image after I watched the last show. I tell you... I don't know.

NOVA: What do you have to say about your relationship with record companies in the past and what do you think now?

I wasn't lucky enough to have a relationship with record companies in past times. Many times I took their managers to my performances in France, where I sang, to show how many people applauded me, filled theatres and adored me, but they told me "we impose what people should consume".

They behave dictatorially. People have no choice and eat what they put in their mouths.

Companies are dedicated to sell to the masses and the new migratory currents of the big cities. It is normal that they are not interested in products for minorities, which is what I do. This is also a problem for Classical and Lyric Music, which record very little or nothing.

I have a treasure called TRIBECA NEW YORK MUSIC at present. They invest a lot in my product and I believe they know why they do it. I don't think anything, I just enjoy it.

NOVA: What place does Argentina have in your cosmogony, would you do a concert there?

The writer Luisa Futoransky have said "Argentina is "bursts of what I was". I say that too. It is a universe kept in my soul and my memory that is present in the midst of all the nationalities I have and the countries where I have lived. She is in the first substratum, and in my accent when I speak Spanish.

For me Argentina is a lost paradise.
